Long Leaf Trace - Eastern Gateway

The Long Leaf Trace is a 14-foot wide asphalt trail that winds 41 miles from the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi to the town of Prentiss. It includes a 23 mile equestrian trail between Carson and Epley.

The Long Leaf Trace is owned and operated by the Pearl & Leaf Rivers Rails to Trails Recreational District. The district is composed of Forrest, Lamar, and Jefferson Davis counties and the municipalities of Bassfield, Hattiesburg, Prentiss and Sumrall. The trail follows the rights-of-way of the old Mississippi Central Railroad, which ran at one time from Natchez to Mobile. The trail is open to the public.
