| Cutting through the rolling hills of the Piney Woods, Highway 53 runs from Poplarville, across Interstate 59, through Necaise and on to Lyman, over on Highway 49, just above Gulfport. From Hattiesburg I usually go south on I-59, turn east on Highway 53 and then turn south onto Highway 603 at Necaise and go through the Kiln and then past the Stennis International Airport to get to Waveland. This is the shortest route to Bay St. Louis and Pearlington. It is a drive that I enjoy. |
